Well, we at MTL YA FEST would like to showcase your talent.

Send us your submission for our writing contest.

​

To be eligible:

• you must be 10-18 years old

• your writing must target a YA audience

• you must email your submission no later than April 15, 2022

• your submission must include your name, age, grade and school name

​

Here are the categories:

​

Short stories:

• Main contest: 

  • Submit an original piece, or fanfiction of your favourite book between 500 and 1500 words.  

• New in 2022:  ​

  • Submit an original piece on a Jewish theme, or fanfiction of your favourite book by a Jewish author or on a Jewish theme, between 500 and 1500 words.  ​

 

Poetry:

• Main contest:

  • Submit a poem or song.

• New in 2022:  ​

  • Submit a poem or song on a Jewish theme.

 

Fan Art:

• Main contest: 

  • Submit a piece of visual art, ideally related to any of our author's works but any YA fandom will do.

• New in 2022:​

  • Submit a piece of visual art, ideally related to any work by a Jewish author or on a Jewish theme.​

Book Trailers:

• Main contest: 

  • Submit a video of no longer than 2 minutes, ideally for one of our MTL YA Fest titles, but any YA book you feel strongly about will do.

• New in 2022:

  • Submit a video of no longer than 2 minutes, ideally for one of our MTL YA Fest titles by a Jewish author or on a Jewish theme, but any YA book by a Jewish author or on a Jewish theme about which you feel strongly will do.

If you are entering a film submission, you are may not sue commercial music or branded items or garments in the video.  

 

Book Review:  

• Main contest: 

  • Submit a review of no more than 500 words, ideally for one of our MTL YA Fest titles, but any YA book you feel strongly about will do.

• New in 2022:

  • Submit a review of no more than 500 words, ideally for one of our MTL YA Fest titles by a Jewish author or on a Jewish theme, but any YA book by a Jewish author or on a Jewish theme about which you feel strongly will do.

How to apply:  

• We will be accepting entries until April 15 2022. 

• Submit your writing to mtlyafest@gmail.com or by clicking the link below. 

• Put "MTL YA FEST Writing Contest" as the subject of your email.

• Include your name, grade and school. 

• Winners will be announced on our website and contacted by email.

What will happen: 

• Our committee will review all submissions

• Submissions will be grouped by submission type and author age/grade prior to review by the committee

• ​Winners will be announced on our website and contacted by email.

• Winning submissions will be shared on our website and via social media.

• Prizes will be announced here as they are confirmed.

• Arrangements for putting the prizes / awards in winners' hands will be made in late April.
